Now, the Mader family keep back the best fruit parcels from their nearly 50 year old Shiraz vines and 90+ year old Semillon Vines to make their own expression of truly great Barossa old vine Shiraz & Semillon.
2008 GUMPARA ‘Victors’ Shiraz. (256 Cases Made) WINESTATE MAGAZINE RATED 4 STARS. Refined viticulture practices together with careful fruit selection have led to this single vineyard wine displaying all the hallmarks of a fine Barossa wine. Predominately fruit driven, and enhanced with careful oak maturation for 21 months in French and American hogshead barrels gives this wine great flavour depth and balance that typifies the essence of the Barossa Valley. This wine will benefit from – 10 years of bottle maturation. 14.5% Alcohol. Savour with Pasta, quail, lamb and steak dishes!
2008 GUMPARA ‘Reserve’ Shiraz. (100 cases made every 2nd year) WINESTATE MAGAZINE RATED 4+ STARS. The selection of high quality fruit combined with extended maturation in new French oak barrels is what makes this top end wine special. Using techniques such as partial barrel fermentation and light pressing methods, add to the structure and complexity of this fine wine. This is a great example of that Gumpara produces and is a wine of great flavour, depth and balance. This wine will benefit from 10 – 15 years of extended bottle maturation. 14.5% Alcohol. Serve with pigeon, duck, beef or kangaroo!
2008 GUMPARA ‘Old Vine Semillon. (160 cases made every 2nd year); WINESTATE MAGAZINE RATED 3.5 STARS. Fruit from our oldest dry grown vines, planted almost 90 years ago provide the basis for this fine Barossa Semillon. Optimum ripeness, whole bunch pressed and traditional wine making techniques combine to produce this wine of notable quality. Aromas and flavours range from subtle pea pod and apple progressing to hay bale, lemon and lime, balanced with a natural crisp acidity. This wine will benefit from extended bottle maturation. 12.5% Alcohol. Enjoy with Seafood, Thai dishes, chicken or rabbit!

1. 2008 Western Australian Shiraz; LUC of $6.67
There’s a lot to like in the ripe sweet fruit that is crammed into this easy-drinking quaffer: On the nose you get complex aromas of plum fruits, black cherries with leafy notes and spearmint, complemented by traces of well integrated oak. Beautifully soft, fruit driven wine showing typical Shiraz richness reined in by the soft tannin finish with prominent red plums, redcurrant and jube like flavours. Great to drink now, but will mature and develop complexity over the medium term.
2. 2010 Margaret River Cabernet Merlot; LUC $6.67
A crimson colour wine with purple hues, the bouquet offers classic, varietal aromas of cassis, red capsicum and choc-mint which are enhanced by sun-dried tomato, with a touch of earthiness. A medium bodied wine with a complex palate that features rich, round velvety tannins, with plum, nutmeg and cherry flavours interwoven with earthy, minty hints. Made to drink upon release whilst the fruit flavour is at its most fresh and vibrant but will reward cellaring over the medium term.
