1999 Penfolds Grange Magnum

1999 Penfolds Grange Bin 95 Magnum.
Quantity Available: 1 – Price $1,350.00

The 1999 Penfolds Grange is “the first Grange since 1963 to be 100 percent Shiraz – and doesn’t it show it in all its glory. This is a fabulously balanced Grange, the perfect follow-up to the extraordinary 1998. Full of luscious, elevated, malty oak and crawling with deliciously spiced, leather-like, licorice-laden, plum-infused, blackberried fruit, it’s gorgeously supple and gamey and long, with a magnificent silkiness and a sense of power, balance and finesse almost second to none. Given a good decant it drinks outstandingly well already, but it will live for a very long time. Given that time, this will become a top-shelf Grange. Jeremy Oliver 96 Points, Drinking 2024 – 2048.

2004_penfolds_bin_389_cabernet_shiraz2004 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz.
Quantity Available: 1 – Price $95.00

The 2004 Penfolds Bin 389 has aromas of berry, plum, licorice, peppercorn, meat, mint and spicy cedar vanilla oak. On the palate full bodied and intense with flavours of berry, licorice, tobacco, mint and vanilla oak. The tannins are firm and grainy; authoritative, confident and sitting very comfortably within the wine. Tannins you can trust. Finishes dry and savoury with excellent length of flavour. A vintage that hoists the flag back to full mast for the archetypal Australian blend. Jeremy Oliver 95 Points, Drinking Now – 2024+

2004 Penfolds Block 42 Cabernet Sauvignon.
Quantity Available: 2 – Price $999.00

It’s not known exactly when the Kalimna Block 42 was planted but there are suggestions that the vines were planted in the 1880’s. They could be the oldest Cabernet vines in the world. I’ve been there and the vines are truly old. Only very rarely does Penfolds release this as a single vineyard wine, when the Cabernet is so fabulous it can’t possibly be blended. The 2004 Penfolds Block 42 Cabernet was such a vintage. Matured in 100% new American hogsheads for 13 months, the Penfolds Block 42 displays a very deep garnet-purple color and profoundly earthy / gamey aromas over black cherry preserves, creme de cassis plus scents of leather, pencil shavings, Mediterranean herbs, black truffles, underbrush and black olives. The elegant, medium-bodied palate is tightly-knit and led by structure with a high level of grainy tannins, very high acid and a long earthy finish. Robert Parker 97 Points, Drinking Now – 2045+

2012_Penfolds_Bin_407_Cabernet_Sauvignon

2012 Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon.
Quantity Available: 1 – Price $69.95

The 2012 Penfolds Bin 407 is dusty, flecked with tobacco, sweet-fruited and perfectly polished, but it’s all olive tapanade and herb and stem through the finish. There’s ripe fruit and sweet oak, but there’s leaf, and therefore life. This release lingers beautifully, has a sense of precision to its structure, and should age grandly. James Halliday 96 Points, Drinking Window 2018 – 2032.
